Cal and Bec are a young couple and new residents to Gregory Hills. While they have only recently purchased in Gregory Hills, the couple’s history with the community is wrapped up in a legacy of love.
I know this will sound overly clichéd, but I still remember the first time I saw Bec. About five years ago a friend of mine had a house warming party after moving in to their home in Gregory Hills. I remember it was in December, as Christmas was fast approaching.
She was wearing a bright floral dress, but it was her smile that caught my attention. I didn’t have the courage to talk to her that day, but as fate would have it, we would see each other regularly through our mutual friend and the get-togethers they hosted.
Then, one Sunday in January we started talking. I know this will sound corny, but the first conversation we had was about houses. We loved the home our friend had and because we are both local to Macarthur, we started talking about all the changes and growth in the area.
One thing we liked about Gregory Hills is that had this real sense of community. Families in the parks using the communal BBQs, kids running around playing with each other or their dogs, that sort of thing.
A few years later we moved in with each other, married twelve months after that and then started planning to buy our own home. That conversation ended pretty quickly because there was only one place we wanted to live - Gregory Hills. Attending gatherings at our friend’s place only made us fall in love with it even more. To us it would be a great place to raise a family, even if it started out just the two of us and Sunday (our dog).
